The Master
Programme in Psychology is designed to provide a rigorous scientific education
that equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge for professional
practice in the field. The curriculum comprises a core study programme and a
selection of concentrations. These include the German-language programme in
Social Psychology and Clinical Psychology, and the English-language programme
in Clinical Psychology & Public Mental Health.
Amidst the
ongoing exacerbation of ecological crises, social and political discord, and
the accelerating pace of technological advancements, the prevalence of mental
distress necessitates the implementation of contextually-oriented interventions
that bridge the social and psychological realms. In all three of these areas –
policy, practice and research – there is an urgent need for graduates who do
not simply deploy psychological tools and techniques, but who are equipped to
think and act in context to transform conditions of injustice and inequality.
In this
emphasis of the master's programme, students learn to think critically about
concepts of health and well-being, to sensitively contextualize approaches, to
strengthen local practices and community resources, and to develop responsive
and responsible lines of research. The emphasis proffers a psychosocial
foundation to clinical and health psychologies that is both historically and
culturally situated, thereby enabling students to meaningfully link theory,
research, practice, and policy in their future careers.

Die Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität (SFU) ist eine seit 2005 nach österreichischem Recht akkreditierte Privatuniversität mit Niederlassungen in Wien, Linz, Paris, Berlin, Milano und Ljubljana.
Die SFU Berlin am Campus Tempelhof
Die SFU Berlin hat am Standort des historischen Flughafens in
Berlin-Tempelhof mit der Akkreditierung 2013 den Lehr- und
Forschungsbetrieb des Bachelorstudiums Psychologie aufgenommen. 2015
folgten die Psychotherapiewissenschaft sowie der Lehrgang Kunsttherapie.
In der Lehre und Forschung der Studienzweige, Universitätslehrgänge und Fort- und Weiterbildungsangebote hat sich die SFU Berlin dazu verpflichtet, ein breites Spektrum wissenschaftstheoretischer- und wissenschaftspraktischer Ansätze zu vermitteln, um einen Nährboden für wissenschaftliche und berufspraktische Auseinandersetzungen zu schaffen. So werden die unterschiedlichen Methoden und Theorien gleichermaßen basierend auf empirischen und hermeneutischen Grundlagen sowie Handlungskompetenzen vermittelt; beispielsweise im Studium der Psychotherapiewissenschaft die verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen anerkannten psychotherapeutischen Verfahren gelehrt. Die Breite wird im Rahmen der Bachelorstudiengänge vermittelt, im Rahmen der Masterprogramme können Schwerpunkte markiert werden. Alle Studiengänge basieren auf dem Drei-Säulen-Modell: Theorie, Praxis und persönliche Entwicklung.
Berufsidentität, wissenschaftlicher Diskurs und persönliche Reife
Das Hauptanliegen an unsere Studierenden und die Lehre, bezogen auf das
gesamte Studienangebot, ist die Entwicklung einer individuellen
Berufsidentität, die Etablierung des Nachwuchses zu einer kritischen
Haltung im wissenschaftlichen Diskurs sowie der persönlichen Reife.
Daher zählt kein Numerus Clausus als Aufnahmekriterium, sondern die
persönliche Eignung für die jeweilige Studienrichtung. Die Chancen
unserer noch jungen Universität sind eine innovative Ausbildung,
studentenzentriertes Unterrichten, das Suchen und Besetzen
erfolgsversprechender Forschungsnischen und geistige Heimat für die
erfahrungshungrigen Studierenden zu sein, in welcher sie wachsen können.
